Scrushy, Siegelman Say Verdict Should Be Tossed

Law360 (August 7, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Former HealthSouth CEO Richard Scrushy and former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman think their government-corruption convictions will have a negative effect on the ability of candidates to raise money for campaigns, prompting lawyers for the two men to move to have the guilty verdicts tossed out.

Scrushy and Siegelman were convicted in June for participating in a scheme in which Siegelman appointed Scrushy to a hospital regulatory board in exchange for $500,000 in donations to Siegelman’s campaign.
