Lawyer, Ex-Senator Accused Of Bribing Miss. Judge

Law360, New York (January 13, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- An attorney who once sued asbestos lawyer Richard “Dickie” Scruggs for owed legal fees has filed a new lawsuit against the convicted lawyer and others, accusing them of scheming with a former U.S. senator to bribe a state court judge.

The plaintiff, William Roberts Wilson Jr., alleges that Scruggs, who is currently serving a five-year sentence for bribery, and his associates conspired to push the judge to rule in Scruggs' favor on a lawsuit over asbestos litigation fees in order to keep a district court from...
