Massey Unit Pleads Guilty Over Fatal WVa Mine Fire

Law360, New York (January 14, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- A Massey Energy Co. subsidiary has pled guilty to criminal charges and paid a $2.5 million fine for safety violations stemming from a massive mine fire that led to the deaths of two miners in 2006.

Aracoma Coal Co. entered a guilty plea Wednesday and deposited the $2.5 million criminal fine with the court.
