Palin To Sue US Over Beluga Whale's ESA Protection

Law360, New York (January 14, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin intends to challenge the listing of Cook Inlet beluga whales as endangered, contending that the federal government's decision neglected to consider the state's own efforts to conserve the species.

On Wednesday, Gov. Palin announced that she had filed an intent to sue the federal government over the beluga listing with the Secretary of Commerce and the National Marine Fisheries Service.
