US Lawmakers Reintroduce Nanotech Research Bill

Law360, New York (January 16, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- U.S. lawmakers have reintroduced a bill to reauthorize and update a federal research program to oversee the development of nanotechnology, an emerging technology that has sparked debate over its possible risks to human health and the environment.

The House Committee on Science and Technology on Thursday introduced the National Nanotechnology Initiative Amendments Act of 2009, a bill identical to one that passed the House 407-6 last year. The Senate is expected to introduce a similar version.
