Firm Layoffs Persist As Economic Crisis Grows

Law360 (January 16, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Nearly 1,300 lawyers and hundreds of support staff have been laid off since October, and even some partners have been chopped off the payroll as the economic downturn intensifies, according to a Law360 analysis.

Thus far in January, more than 160 attorneys have lost their jobs, including 15 to 25 nonequity partners at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, our data shows.
