Premiums Falling, But Maybe Not For Long: Survey

Law360, New York (January 20, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Insurance premium rates for businesses dropped once again in the fourth quarter of 2008, but rates for general liability, directors' and officers' and property insurance all dropped at a slower pace than in recent quarters, suggesting that the five-year trend of falling rates may end soon, according to a new survey.

Risk Insurance and Management Society's Benchmark Survey, released Tuesday, was produced by Advisen Ltd., which recently forecast that commercial insurance premiums would begin increasing later this year or early in 2010, as the economic crisis...
