E.C. Ends Paper Industry Probe

Law360, New York (August 9, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- European regulators have officially closed the book on their investigation into price-fixing and cartels in the fine paper industry, bringing an end to a two-year probe.

The European Commission announced Wednesday that it has informed Finnish fine paper companies Stora Enso and M-real Oyj that the allegations against them have been dropped.

Although the investigation into the fine paper industry has been concluded, regulators will continue looking into allegations of price-fixing in the magazine and publication paper industries.
