Candy Tycoon Mars Loses Bid To Bar Gas Drilling

Law360 (January 23, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- The Montana Supreme Court has swatted away an attempt by candy magnate Forrest Mars Jr. to stop an energy company from drilling for natural gas on his Diamond Cross ranch in the southeastern part of the state.

In an opinion issued Wednesday, the state Supreme Court rejected Diamond Cross Properties LLC's argument that Pinnacle had not satisfied the proper notice requirements and that a lower court had erred by allowing Pinnacle to call a witness during its rebuttal.
