Wildlife Group Sues DOI Over Polar Bear Rule

Law360, New York (January 29, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- The Defenders of Wildlife are fighting a rule allowing for the incidental take of polar bears that the U.S. government issued to protect energy interests in the Arctic on the same day it listed the animal as threatened.

On Tuesday, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the Defenders of Wildlife sued the U.S. Department of the Interior and Fish and Wildlife Service over the Special Rule for the Polar Bear.
