Honeywell Invokes Public Right To Ch. 11 Asbestos Docs

Law360, Wilmington (October 14, 2016, 9:46 PM EDT) -- A Honeywell International Inc. attorney argued Friday that the public's broad right to court documents justifies the release of now-restricted Delaware bankruptcy exhibits identifying thousands of asbestos injury claimants in Chapter 11 cases of companies it had supplied, regardless of the records' later uses.

Honeywell attorney Darren T. Azman of McDermott Will & Emery LLP also told Judge Kevin Gross during a hearing that there was no need for the court to appoint a former judge to referee a dispute over the release, which is opposed by asbestos claimants' trust interests.
