Employment Cos. Face €94M In French Antitrust Fines

Law360, New York (February 2, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- France's Competition Council has hit Manpower Inc., Adecco SA and Vedior NV with €94.4 million ($121 million) in fines for allegedly conspiring to reduce competition in the employment services market.

Under the decision, announced Monday, Manpower will pay €42 million, Adecco will pay €34.2 million and Vedior will pay €18.2 million.

Those three employment services providers combined to control 70 percent of the French market and 90 percent of large accounts, contracting with Eiffage, La Poste, Alstom, EDF, Servair, les Galeries Lafayette and other French companies,...
