Alcon Sues Apotex, Sandoz Over Eyedrops Patents

Law360 (February 3, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Vision care company Alcon Pharmaceuticals Ltd. has filed lawsuits against generics makers Sandoz Inc. and Apotex Corp., accusing the companies of infringing patents related to Alcon's Pataday and Patanol eyedrops.

Alcon lodged both lawsuits Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana after learning that Apotex and Sandoz had sought approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to make and market generic versions of Alcon's allergy-relieving eyedrops.
