McConnell Wants 21st Century Cures Act Passed In 2016

By Dani Kass (November 10, 2016, 6:40 PM EST) -- Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., on Thursday said passing the 21st Century Cures Act by the end of the year is one of his two priorities for the lame-duck Congress, and that he has the backing of President Barack Obama.

McConnell said he discussed the bipartisan bill on Thursday morning with the president, and reaffirmed his commitment to moving forward on the measure that overwhelmingly passed in the U.S. House of Representatives last year before stalling in the Senate. Funding the government was the only priority he listed beside the bill at a news conference.
