DOJ Releases Highly Anticipated Amnesty Letters

Law360 (February 6, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- As promised, the U.S. Department of Justice's Antitrust Division has released 532 pages of heavily redacted amnesty agreements as part of a settlement agreement with shipping company Stolt-Nielsen Transportation Group Ltd.

The letters were released Thursday in batches, arranged in randomized, nonchronological order, to protect the confidentiality of the applicants, according to the agency. As per the terms of the settlement, the letters had also been heavily redacted so the identity of amnesty applicants was impossible to determine.
