Drug Co. Gets OK To Fight Damages In Seroquel MDL

Law360 (February 6, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Plaintiffs in multidistrict litigation over AstraZeneca LP's blockbuster drug Seroquel have failed in their attempt to bar the drugmaker from presenting an argument against punitive damages in the first group of trials.

Magistrate Judge David Baker of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida denied the plaintiffs' request in an order Wednesday, saying AstraZeneca should not be prohibited from trying to persuade jurors that such damages were not warranted in the cases.
