Cleary Partner To Take On SEC General Counsel Role

Law360 (February 6, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP partner David M. Becker is returning to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission as general counsel and senior policy director, one of a number of attorneys who have recently jumped from the private sector to top positions in the new administration.

Becker took a hiatus from the SEC, where he served as deputy general counsel in 1998 and as general counsel from January 2000 to May 2000, and joined Cleary Gottlieb as a partner in 2002.
