EPA, DOE Propose Hanford Deadlines

Law360 (February 6, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- The agencies charged with cleaning the Hanford Nuclear Reservation — the country's most tainted former nuclear manufacturing site — have set new deadlines for removing contamination from soils and groundwater.

On Friday, the U.S. Department of Energy, Washington State Department of Ecology and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency proposed new interim target dates for cleanup of the site — including completing much of the active cleanup of the groundwater and soils of the Columbia River by 2015.
