Chevron Demands $500K From Nigerian Villagers

Law360 (February 9, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Fresh off a win in the rights abuses case involving Nigerian protesters, Chevron Corp. is demanding that the villagers who brought suit fork over almost $500,000 in reimbursements, in a move that some opponents have labeled heartless.

In the wake of December's favorable jury verdict, Chevron has filed documents in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, seeking to be reimbursed $263,640.47 for transcript costs as well as myriad other expenses.
