FTC Extends Antitrust Review Of Barr Acquisition

Law360, New York (August 15, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has made a second request for information in its antitrust review of Barr Laboratories acquisition of European generic drug giant, Pliva.

In a conference call concerning the company’s financial status Tuesday, Barr Chief Executive Bruce Downey said that, following conversations with regulators, he’s confident the FTC will eventually allow the deal to proceed.

“We expect to rap up the FTC discussions pretty quickly,” he said.
