EU Seeks Full Financial Disclosure From Commissioners

Law360, London (December 1, 2016, 5:16 PM GMT) -- European lawmakers on Thursday voted overwhelmingly to make commissioners reveal a complete picture of their financial activities, after a former competition commissioner was linked to an offshore company in the Bahamas in September.

A full 615 lawmakers voted for the European Union’s executive arm to make sweeping changes to its code of conduct for commissioners, which would force greater transparency around their appointments, and demanded greater parliamentary oversight of declarations of interest.
