DOJ Launches Antitrust Probe Of Compressor Makers

Law360, New York (February 19, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Two days after the European Commission announced raids on the offices of several refrigerator and freezer compressor manufacturers, the U.S. Department of Justice has confirmed it too is investigating possible antitrust violations in the multibillion-dollar industry.

“The Antitrust Division is investigating the possibility of anti-competitive practices in the compressor industry,” DOJ spokeswoman Gina Talamona said Thursday. “We are coordinating with other foreign competition authorities.”
