Chinese Law Worries U.S. Chamber Of Commerce

Law360, New York (August 18, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Citing fears that the new draft of China’s anti-monopoly law could be used to target foreign firms, the American Chamber of Commerce on Friday called for Beijing to ensure that the law’s enforcement body will be independent and free of bias.

“Our message to the government is that the enforcement authority must be independent, well-informed of the issues and implement the competition laws in an objective and uniform fashion on a nationwide basis," said James Zimmerman, vice chairman of AmCham-China, at a business gathering.
