E-Discovery Still A Challenge For Attorneys, Judges Say

Law360, New York (January 27, 2017, 3:42 PM EST) -- Federal judges believe the average attorney does not always have what it takes to properly guide clients through the e-discovery process, but overall attorney competency in these matters continues to steadily improve, according to a new study released Thursday.

A survey of 22 federal judges conducted by e-discovery software company Exterro Inc. found that 45 percent of them disagree and 18 percent “strongly disagree” that a typical attorney has the subject matter knowledge necessary to counsel clients effectively on e-discovery matters.
