Full-Time Offers For Summer Assocs. Plunged In '08

Law360, New York (February 25, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Law firms offered fewer full-time positions to summer associates at the end of their programs in 2008, marking the lowest offer rate since 2003, according to a new survey from the National Association for Law Placement.

The NALP's “Perspectives on Fall 2008 Law Student Recruiting,” which was released on Feb. 18, said that employers had determined the size of their 2008 summer classes before the legal industry was hit by the downturn. So summer program membership was about the same in 2008 as it was in...
