NC Judge Strikes Deal With Reservist Over Job Loss

Law360, New York (February 26, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- A North Carolina judge and the state court system's administrative office have agreed to pay $12,000 in back wages and damages to a former magistrate in order to settle claims from the federal government that the court refused to reappoint the magistrate to a new term because of his service in the U.S. Army Reserve.

If the settlement, filed Wednesday, receives approval from the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina, it would bring an end to the suit against the Administrative Office...
