Major Cos. Back New Group Aimed At Educating Public On IP

Law360, New York (February 14, 2017, 7:54 PM EST) -- The Center for Intellectual Property Understanding, a new group aimed at increasing awareness of the value of IP, officially launched Tuesday with the backing heavy hitters in the field.

The independent, nonprofit education group says it wants to increase awareness of the benefits of IP among diverse audiences and promote a more positive attitude that deters theft and minimizes disputes. The group noted in a press release that misunderstanding about what IP rights achieve and who benefits from them threatens the competitiveness of the nation and costs the U.S. economy and other economies billions of dollars each year.
