Sen. McConnell Leaves 'Nuclear Option' Open On Gorsuch
Law360, Washington (February 15, 2017, 6:52 PM EST) -- The Senate Majority Leader on Wednesday kept the line open for using the so-called nuclear option — changing Senate rules — and also backed President Donald Trump Supreme Court nominee Judge Neil Gorsuch’s earlier comments on the independent judiciary.
In an appearance on MSNBC’s "Morning Joe," a show reportedly frequently watched by the president, Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., told host Joe Scarborough that 10th Circuit Judge Gorsuch will be confirmed. Whether Senate rules get changed from the current 60-vote threshold will “depend on the Democrats,” McConnell said, and whether eight Democrats cross the aisle to support his nomination.
