WIPO Revamps IP Data Standards To Make Searches Easier

Law360 (February 5, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has revised its data standards for patent, trademark and industrial design information in order to facilitate database searches, the United Nations agency said Thursday.

The revision, adopted by WIPO’s Standards and Documentation Working Group, will make it easier to search the rich pool of publicly available industrial property information associated with the grant of patents, trademarks and industrial designs, especially with regards to prior arts searches, according to the agency.
