Obama FTC Pick Puts Spotlight On Antitrust Action

Law360 (March 2, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Tapping Jon Leibowitz as next chairman of the Federal Trade Commission underlines the Obama administration’s strong focus on revitalizing enforcement of antitrust laws, experts say.

Leibowitz, who is currently the only Democratic commissioner at the FTC, has built a reputation for favoring strong antitrust policing during his four-year tenure as a commissioner, and he is likely to use his new leadership role to build on what many perceive as the FTC’s already tough enforcement stance.
