Fla. Sen. Introduces National Catastrophe Aid Bill

Law360, New York (March 2, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Legislators have proposed a bill that would provide emergency federal aid to cover property losses should a major storm or fire hit a state and decimate its catastrophe funds.

Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., introduced Senate bill S. 505 on Friday with co-sponsors Sen. Mel Martinez, R-Fla., and Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La.

“We need a more disciplined, structured plan for providing federal assistance following any major natural disaster,” Nelson said.
