Now-Defunct Hedge Fund Rule Still Had Impact: Study

Law360, New York (August 22, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An appeals court may have dashed the U.S. Security and Exchange Commission’s hedge fund rule, but the regulation still had an impact on the $1 trillion industry, according to a recent study.

The study, done by consulting firm Greenwich Associates, found that while 20% of registered hedge funds surveyed plan to deregister, a larger percentage plan to implement new compliance processes designed to meet registration requirements.
