Orrick To Lay Off 300, DLA Piper 54

Law360, New York (March 3, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- The brutal slew of layoffs in the legal industry continued Tuesday, with Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP announcing it would let go 300 associates and staff in the United States, Asia and Europe, and DLA Piper slashing 54 lawyers and support staff in Asia in light of the continuing worldwide economic crisis.

San Francisco-based Orrick said it had begun a firmwide reduction in its work force in the U.S. and Asia and redundancy consultations in Europe that would affect approximately 100 associates and 200 staff....
