Minnesota Schools Shell Out $1M In Age Bias Suit

Law360, New York (August 22, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Minnesota school district has agreed to fork over $1.1 million to settle a lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission that alleges the district’s early retirement program discriminated against older employees.

On Monday, officials revealed the settlement between the EEOC and the Stillwater school district, marking the last of 12 lawsuits filed by the commission against state districts over the early-retirement incentive plans.

The EEOC sued the Stillwater district back in December, accusing the district of showing bias against age.
