Attys Must Defend Judiciary From Trump Attacks, Judges Say
By Jody Godoy (March 9, 2017, 7:29 PM EST) -- Federal judges and a former White House counsel on Thursday called on attorneys to defend the American judiciary from accusations by President Donald Trump and others that its members rule based on personal politics.
Asked about Trump's negative comments about the judiciary, federal judges speaking on a panel at the American Bar Association's annual white collar conference in Miami said attorneys should be their voice.
U.S. District Judge Paul Friedman of the District of Columbia said attorneys for both defendants and plaintiffs should "remind everybody how important an independent judiciary is to our system."
