SIFMA Applauds CFTC Changes To Record Keeping Rules

Law360, New York (March 17, 2017, 2:00 PM EDT) -- The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association on Thursday sent a letter supporting a U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission proposal to allow firms greater flexibility to use current technology in maintaining records, while suggesting the agency make minor changes.

The CFTC’s proposed amendments, published in January, were aimed at giving firms greater flexibility in retaining and producing records as required by the regulator. Among other things, firms would no longer have to keep electronic records in their native file format or retain a third-party technical consultant....
