Clients Leaving Firms With The Bill For Research

Law360, New York (March 20, 2017, 4:44 PM EDT) -- Clients will refuse to pay costs for performing legal research more than any other task, while law firms only see a return of a quarter of all possible costs associated with that work, according to a new study. 

The finding is part of the legal support services consulting firm Mattern & Associates LLC’s 2016 cost recovery survey, which found nearly three quarters of firms saying clients will refuse to pay for legal research.
