Reid's Bill Would Revamp Green Transmission Grid

Law360 (March 6, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- In an effort to make renewable energy easily accessible to even the most remote regions of the U.S., Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., has proposed a massive overhaul of the nation's electricity transmission planning process.

Introduced Thursday, the legislation, called the Clean Renewable Energy and Economic Development Act of 2009, is intended to promote investments in transmission projects in order to increase access to renewable electric generation. The bill also establishes a streamlined planning and siting process for a green transmission grid.
