Class Action Against Star Gas Thrown Out

Law360 (August 23, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge in Connecticut has thrown out a class action securities suit against Star Gas Partners L.P., granting three motions to dismiss and finding that the plaintiffs failed to adequately support claims that they were misled.

The lawsuit against Stamford, Conn.-based Star Gas was filed in district court in New Haven in October 2004, on the heels of the company announcing that it might have to seek bankruptcy protection because its earnings were declining and it was losing customers.
