Appeals Court Vacates Shell Offshore Drilling Decision

Law360 (March 9, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An environmental coalition's victory against Shell Oil Co. was reduced to a temporary stalemate on Friday, when a federal appeals court vacated an earlier decision that had stalled drilling off Alaska's coast.

The order, issued in the U.S. Federal Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, vacates a November decision that had mandated a new environmental review before Shell could drill in the Beaufort Sea.
