OSHA Fines Suncor For 27 Refinery Violations

Law360, New York (March 9, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Suncor Energy (USA) Inc. is facing more than $130,000 in proposed fines from the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration for a range of safety and health violations, including failure to test gas monitors and improper handling of hazardous chemicals.

OSHA announced the citations, all for violations at Suncor's Commerce City, Colo., petroleum refinery, on Friday. The agency recommended an $81,000 penalty for 26 serious violations, as well as a $49,500 fine for a single willful violation.
