FINRA Moves To Track Federal Bonds With TRACE

Law360 (March 9, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority is seeking a vast expansion of its debt-trading tracking system to include federally issued debt securities, the self-regulatory organization said Monday.

Under FINRA's proposal, the Trade Reporting and Compliance Engine would carry price information and trades for debt issued by federal government agencies, government corporations and government-sponsored enterprises.

In addition, FINRA wants the TRACE system to track the trading and prices of primary-market transactions in new debt issues. TRACE only monitors real-time prices and trading volume of corporate bonds and other...
