Citi, US Steel To Pay $1M In Kan. Superfund Suit

Law360 (March 10, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Citibank Global Market Holdings Inc. and U.S. Steel Corp. have agreed to pay $1 million to reimburse the federal government for costs it incurred cleaning up a former zinc smelting operation in southeastern Kansas.

The government filed a motion Monday asking the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas to approve a consent decree in a lawsuit seeking reimbursement from the companies under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act.

The motion did not specify how much each company would pay under the agreement....
