Science Companies To Divest After FTC Request

Law360 (August 24, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A science lab supply company is selling off a $17 million product line after its proposed merged with another company received antitrust scrutiny from the Federal Trade Commission.

Thermo Electron Corporation and Fisher Scientific International Inc. announced Wednesday that they had received a second request for information from the FTC. The request was limited to information concerning a single, minor product line, the companies said.

To resolve the concerns, the companies are divesting a Fisher product line valued at $17 million.
