Francisco Partners Plugs $140M Into Online Diamond Retailer

Law360, New York (April 7, 2017, 12:19 PM EDT) -- Technology-focused private equity shop Francisco Partners has agreed to inject $140 million into R2Net, an online retailer of engagement rings and loose diamonds that is intent on disrupting the traditionally brick-and-mortar industry, the companies said Friday.

The growth equity investment will assist with R2Net’s expansion plans, according to a statement. R2Net owns JamesAllen.com, a website the company says has tripled in size over the past two years thanks to a multitude of factors, including its simplicity, diamond selection and pricing transparency, as well an “innovative virtual showroom” that allows users to see all sides of a diamond and design or customize...
