PTAB Rejects Some Follow-Up Attacks To Software Patents

Law360, New York (April 17, 2017, 6:10 PM EDT) -- The Patent Trial and Appeal Board has rejected a handful of recent attacks brought by Xactware Solutions Inc. against a rival’s patents covering aerial rooftop measurement software, saying the New Jersey company was morphing its challenges based on earlier board decisions.

Xactware filed more than a dozen petitions in 2016 challenging various Eagle View Technologies Inc. patents that it had been accused of infringing. The petitions came in two waves, the second of which followed a series of mixed institution decisions from the PTAB.
