EU Slaps Anti-Dumping Duties On US Biodiesel

Law360, New York (March 13, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Union has imposed temporary duties on imports of American biodiesel, saying U.S. subsidies on the fuel are unfair and have hurt European producers.

The measures came into effect Friday, and will continue for four months while the EU continues an investigation, the European Commission said in a statement Thursday.

EC regulators launched an investigation into alleged dumping by American biodiesel companies in June 2008, after a complaint was lodged by the European Biodiesel Board, which represents the European biodiesel industry, in April.
