DOI Moving Ahead On Oil Leases: Salazar

Law360 (March 16, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of the Interior's aggressive pursuit of renewable energy development will not stop it from leasing public lands for oil and gas development, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar told a Senate committee that included Republicans who expressed concerns over reviews of Bush-era oil and gas leases.

On Tuesday, Salazar assured members of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources — including former presidential candidate John McCain, R-Ariz. — that the DOI was not abandoning its commitment to domestic oil and gas development.
