FTC Mulls Energy Labels For TVs, Certain Electronics

Law360 (March 17, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission announced Monday that it was considering requiring energy labels for televisions and other consumer electronic products now that it has the authority to require such disclosures.

In an advanced notice of proposed rulemaking published in Monday's edition of the Federal Register, the FTC said it was seeking public comment about whether it should mandate that televisions and other consumer electronic products contain labels that disclose the products' energy consumption and water use.
