RWE To Shed German Gas Network Over EU Worries

Law360 (March 18, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Commission agreed Wednesday to accept RWE Group's offer to sell its German gas transmission network to assuage concerns that the company abused its dominant power over the gas markets in that country.

RWE agreed to divest the assets in response to the commission's suspicions that it had refused to supply gas transmission services to third parties and tried to lower the profit margin of its downstream competitors in gas supply.
